Sixth Form Open Evening

Open Evening

Thursday 13th October 2016

Internal Students - 6pm

External Students - 7pm

We have recently experienced our best ever results at A Level.  In 2016, we attained 23% of grades at A or A*, 53% at grade A*-B and 82% of grades were grade C or above.  As part of this success we also attained 40 Norfolk Scholars.  As impressive as these results are, at Springwood we actually focus more on life after sixth form and it is pleasing for us that these results meant that 119 students were able to pursue their futures at university.  A further 12 are undertaking higher level apprenticeships – some at national companies, including Jaguar Land Rover, and others at local businesses.

We recognise that A Levels are about more than lessons.  Our enrichment and volunteering scheme is established and students complete voluntary work following our ‘Volunteering Fair’.  We also have the EPQ (with 85% of students getting A*-A) and offer Duke of Edinburgh Gold award to all students.  During ‘Super Learning Days’ motivational speakers from a range of backgrounds, from sports stars and TV personalities to adventurers and entrepreneurs, have spoken to us in our social area and open our students’ eyes to opportunities that they may not otherwise have been aware of.

Our sixth form is aspirational and challenging but supportive too.  We use many school mechanisms, such as reports and support plans, to help our students achieve their aspirational and challenging targets and, as you can see by the results, they nearly always do!

I hope you will join us on our open evening on 13th October to find out more about our sixth form and see our outstanding facilities, including state-of-the-art Mac suites, bespoke sixth form areas and our university style study area with over 100 computers, for yourself!
